Vomiting and diarrhoea in cats are usually due to relatively minor illnesses but countless serious conditions will also result in these symptoms. If your feline friend has an upset stomach they should be seen by a vet promptly.
Sudden Onset: Acute Gastroenteritis
Vomiting and diarrhoea in cats can be caused suddenly by any of the following:
- Infection
- Toxin ingestion (accidental access to household medicines, or weed killers for example)
- Foreign object ingestion (such as toys, pieces of string, clothing items etc)
- Rancid food
- Pancreatitis
Ongoing: Chronic Gastroenteritis
- Food intolerance/allergy
- Parasites
- Organ failure (kidney, liver failure etc)
- Lymphoma
